General John Stark talk at the Apotheca in Goffstown, NH

Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils. How can you not like our state motto? Attributed to a toast made by General John Stark on July 31st, 1809 On Sunday we celebrated my Mom's birthday by attending a talk at Apotheca  in Goffstown, NH It was fitting that Rodney Stark (who is related to John Stark) gave the talk. He shared books with the audience describing both John and Molly Stark. Rodney was assisted by Sandy Whipple, Adult Services and Outreach at the Goffstown Public Library . Sandy had prepared some cookies and other foods that would have been served at tea in the Revolutionary times. Update (01/06/2018) - Sold and Refurbished As the winter snows melt away some of the ugliness reemerges. Sadly Central School is still vacant, still for sale and still an eyesore. This is UGLY Winter was tough

New Ipswich Memorial Day - 2013

We celebrate Memorial Day the Sunday before the official holiday. As in years past there is a morning ceremony at the Smithville Cemetery followed in the afternoon with a much larger parade. Here are some photos of the both events. Starting with Coffee and Nisu at Peter and BJ Aho's home. In attendance WWII veterans Eddy Aho and Peter Grippardi Then to Smithville Cemetery. Spring Flowers

Winter seems to last too long and spring is too short here in New Hampshire. Still it is great to see those daffodils appear. However one of the strangest sites are my extra-terrestial Japanese Butterbur blossoms. For a flower that is sublime, you cannot beat the Star Magnolia
