The New Ipswich NH Rec Dept held their annual Autumn Festival at Memorial Field on October 14, 2017. They have posted a number of photos on their Facebook Page . These are a few of my photos. Cow Pie Bingo, for the longest time, the cow did not participate. Someone suggested more fiber. This is an interesting costume, apparently it is some TV character but I thought it was a Lego guy. Curcubita maxima is a variety of squash that can exceed 2000 pounds. Every Autumn the New Hampshire town of Goffstown sponsors a Pumpkin Regatta featuring a race of the giant gourds in the Piscataquog River Reservoir in the center of town. The festivities start with a pumpkin weigh off for the state championship. There is a drop of a giant gourd from 70 feet into a swimming pool, a road race, firing apples from sling shots and as a finale a race of the giant pumpkins piloted by folks in costumes. This year the theme was superheroes. Students from Emerson College are making a documentary about the Regatta, more photos can be seen on their Facebook Page Catwoman prowls the reservoir Each pumpkin is numbered in a raffle, the first one to cross the finish line was supposed to be the winner. October 27th 2011, the first visible snow of the fall-winter season. At this point it is not yet a nuisance, just a interesting mix of fall colors with a white tinge. There is a bit of danger to plants that have not dropped their leaves. This is a wet heavy snow. Summer persists as long as it can. This climbing hydrangea still has green leaves. This shot was taken beneath pine trees which tend to be warmer, thus the lack of snow.

I can attest that a  pumpkin can penetrate a camper after seeing the " American Chunker " in operation at the Milford Pumpkin Festival. The "Chunker" is an impressive machine, The firing is actually quite quiet, more of a hiss, but the pumpkin flies out at an impressive speed.
