Good morning Readers, It has been a while since I've done anything with this blog and I'm offering my apologies. I was wrongly under the assumption that nobody bothered to read it until I glanced at the statistics page. Since Spring is only 17 days away I'm posting a recent photo of a yellow Clivia in bloom. The photo was taken at the Mason Hollow Nursery Greenhouse . It is fairly easy to find springtime in a greenhouse. Not so true for the outdoors, it is currently snowing. Happy Friday folks. I awoke to some "brisk" temperatures. It was below zero (F) this morning here in New Ipswich. But yesterday the temperatures were relatively mild (balmy 20s) during a snow storm and we had the opportunity to don some snowshoes and venture out. Relatively mild temperatures while we broke the trail through the woods. I was reminded again that different muscles are used when snowshoeing. Sore today. It has finally warmed up to 0 degrees F. I don't relish going outside to remove a mountain of snow from the cars. But winter does have a certain beauty. With this last snow I will definitely get a chance to don some snowshoes and take a walk around. It's a great way to get around, good exercise that warms you up and let's you get into the woods. 10 Days till Christmas Correction (01/03/2018) Most of these photos are of aircraft The Geminids and the Quadrantids  are the only meteor showers NOT originating from a comet. They are babies in the meteor shower family, only appearing since 1862. It is a great display and I caught a few on camera.  I wasn't too sure how well the camera would hold up in the cold before the lens would frost over or the battery would quit so I only took a sequence of 117 photos. I shot these with a 20mm Lumix lens which is equivalent in 35mm terms to a 40mm. Not exactly wide angle but the fastest lens I have. I chose a shutter speed of 30 seconds with a 8 second gap between shots. ISO was set at 400 which was the best quality I thought I could choose for a night sky. My neighbors Christmas lights gave me a subject for manually setting focus because this lens like so many other digital lens does NOT have an infinity marking (why not?).
