Thayer House and Bake Shop Fire - 1894

Leon R. Willard a photographer in New Ipswich photographed the remains of the Thayer House and Bake Shop after it was burnt in a fire on May 11, 1894.

This photo was taken at corner of Route 123A and Turnpike Road. Silver's store (center left) was made into the Masonic Lodge in 1903. The Thayer Cigar shop (center right) was converted to what is now the New Ipswich Market in 1932. To the right of the market the standing chimneys and a partial wall mark the location of the fire.
