The 1808 House

At some point the Clark Hotel became the 1808 House which was an Inn. Later it became the 1808 House Restaurant which I frequented for the Friday all-you-can-eat fish dinners. It was sad when it closed and the abandoned building was quite an eyesore.

However the building was purchased and renovated and now is the location of the Re/Max Town Square Office Building.

Fountain in front of the Re/Max office originally was in the center of Turnpike Road. It had an attached gas lantern and the pipes are visible in the access opening. It provided water for  horses and people with this inscription "Presented to the town of New Ipswich by Captain John S. Haubbard of Concord, NH., Sept 12, 1893."
